- Always stay near your child. Keep in touch with your friends. If required do not hesitate to ask for their help.
- Distribute or share your duties and responsibilities with your husband. A child’s upbringing and day-to-day care are not only the duty of the mother only. It is, in fact, it is the dual responsibility of both the mother and the father.
- Keep in touch with your family doctor or midwife as much as possible.
- Take good care of your own health.
- If you get the chance to get some shut-eye then do so.
- Most of all try to enjoy yourself as much as possible and stay with your child at all times as close as possible.

For Husbands and Friends
- Tell the patient in no uncertain terms that such feelings are normal;
- Be patient. Do not forget that the mother of the child is experiencing some deep and dangerous changes in her mind and body. It’s really hard for him to get out of it.
- Try to see that she is not focusing on her social and sexual activities. Remember that all of these are symptoms of depression, never take them for granted
